Bicycle helmets

Bike helmets are helmets intended to be worn while riding a bicycle. They are designed to attenuate impacts to the skull of a cyclist in falls while minimizing side effects such as interference with peripheral vision. Few people would choose to ride in a car with no seat belts.

Mandatory bicycle helmet laws could do more harm than good, a new study claims. The unthinkable happened the other day. Our cycling group had settled into an easy cruise on the Warburton Trail. In the United States, helmets designed specifically for bicycling differ from helmets made for skateboarding also.

About loan amortization

A definition of the word amortize is ‘to provide for the gradual extinguishment of (a mortgage) usually by contribution to a sinking fund at the time of each periodic interest payment’. You should keep in mind, though, that other things will still require to be added into this sum together with taxes, fees and down payments. As time goes on, more and more of each payment covers your principal. The majority of each payment at the beginning of a loan amortization pays for interest. The interesting part of amortization is that every mortgage payment, despite being equal, contains different amounts of principal and interest.

How to Diagnose Hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism is the medical term to describe hyperactivity of thyroid gland. Although there are several causes of hyperthyroidism, most of the symptoms of hyperthyroidism patients experience are the same regardless of the cause. Hyperthyroidism is diagnosed using medical history and physical examination, and some blood tests. During the examination your doctor will try to detect a slight tremor in your fingers when they’re extended, overactive reflexes, eye changes and warm, moist skin. Your doctor will also examine your thyroid gland as you swallow. Blood tests will confirm hyperthyroidism if the thyroxine (T4) levels are high and TSH levels are low. Further investigation are intended to determine why your thyroid is overactive. These are: radioactive iodine uptake test and thyroid scan. A high uptake of radioactive iodine indicates an over-activity whose cause is either Graves’ disease, or hyper functioning nodules. If the radioactive iodine uptake is low, you may have thyroiditis.

Read about burn treatment

Burns are a very common injury. First step of skin burn treatment is that you have to stop the burning process and take the victim away from the source of heat. Males suffer from burns more often (60%) and three quarters of burn injuries occur in and around the home. This burn involves the epidermis and some portion of the dermis, the second layer of the skin. Minor burns with reddened skin and no blisters may be treated with a topical burn ointment or spray to reduce pain. Remember not to put anything over this area as it might lead to a chemical reaction and worsen the burn.

What is Alli?

Alli is the only weight loss product with FDA approval designed to prevent some of the fat you eat from being absorbed. But how does Alli work? Alli is a reduced form of Xenical, a medication used to treat obesity. The Active ingredient is orlistat. Orlistat attaches to some natural enzymes in the digestive system and prevent them from breaking down about a quarter of the fat you eat. These undigested fat cannot be absorbed and passes through your body in a natural way. Alli isn’t a miracle pill or quick-fix solution. It encourages steady, gradual weight loss. You have to understand that to achieve healthy weight loss you simply need to eat a reduced calorie, lower fat diet and be a bit more active.

Hypothyroidism symptoms

If hypothyroidism isn’t treated, the symptoms will progress and, rarely, a severe form of hypothyroidism called myxedema will develop. Symptoms of hypothyroidism usually appear slowly over months or years. Symptoms and signs may include:
• Coarse and thinning hair.
• Dry skin.
• Brittle nails.
• A yellowish tint to the skin.
• Slow body movements.
• Cold skin.
• Inability to tolerate cold.
• Feeling tired, sluggish, or weak
The thyroid gland is located in the front of the neck, just below the larynx (voice box). It helps to maintain a healthy metabolism (the process by which foods are transformed into basic elements to be utilized by the body for energy or growth) by producing and releasing iodine-containing hormones called thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).

Pay attention to ectopic pregnancy

In a typical ectopic pregnancy, the embryo does not reach the uterus, but instead adheres to the lining of the Fallopian tube. Here are some ectopic pregnancy symptoms:
• Sudden, severe pain gradually spreading out across the abdomen.
• Sweating, feeling light-headed or faint, diarrhoea, or blood in your stool.
• Collapse or shock as a result of severe internal bleeding.
• Shoulder-tip pain.
If the pregnancy is further along, you’ll likely need surgery to remove the abnormal pregnancy. In the past, this was a major operation, requiring a large incision across the pelvic area. This might still be necessary in cases of emergency or extensive internal injury. Ectopic pregnancy is also more likely in women who have:
• Had surgery to reverse tubal sterilization in order to become pregnant
• Had an intrauterine device (IUD) and became pregnant (very unlikely when IUDs are in place)
